SHEro Fundraising Campaign

Will you join us? With every donation made, name one of your SHEros to be celebrated on the YWGC’s social platforms.

Who's a SHEro? A mentor. A mother. A sister. A best friend. A colleague.

Who is someone that inspires you? An advocate for women and girls, advancing gender and racial justice, and/or powering change through their leadership.

In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, communities across Chicago are being impacted and forced to cope with the fallout. Moreover, based on recent data from the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Chicago Department of Public Health, it is clear that not all communities are experiencing the pandemic in the same way - with disparities falling along racial and socioeconomic lines and African Americans, predominantly in Chicagoland, are disproportionately suffering from higher incidents of deaths associated with the virus.

Central to YWGC’s mission is creating social change and supporting Chicago’s young women and girls through philanthropic efforts. In order to fulfill our purpose during these unprecedented circumstances, we are undertaking an online giving campaign.

This grantmaking cycle, we set out to raise $18,000. Out of an abundance of caution during the COVID-19 crisis, YWGC canceled one of our largest fundraising events reducing our chances to meet our fundraising goal. Funds raised during the SHEro campaign will offset these revenue losses and go directly back into the community through grants awarded in June. Previous grantees include Brave Space Alliance, Global Girls, and Gyrls in the HOOD Foundation.
