Melissa Widen, 2016 Impact Award
Originally from Columbia, Maryland, Melissa Widen is an attorney and an activist in Chicago. Advocating for women and girls has always been her passion. Melissa is very interested in the issue of reproductive justice and its legal, political and personal implications. She has been privileged to be a longtime Board member of Personal PAC, and has served as Chair for the last five years. Melissa is an avid politics-watcher and a believer in electing progressive governmental officials, on both the state and national level, who are willing to stand up for women and girls and protect civil rights for everyone. Melissa is a Trustee of the Jewish Women’s Foundation of Chicago and a volunteer/supporter of the Young Women’s Leadership Charter School, Hand in Hand: Center for Jewish-Arab Education in Israel, Mazon, Lakeview Pantry, Uptown Café, and the Jewish United Fund.
