Chicago Foundation for Women Welcomes New Board Chair and Elects Four New Board Members

Chicago Foundation for Women (CFW) is pleased to announce the election of Patricia Costello Slovak as Board Chair and the election of four new members to the CFW Board of Directors. Patricia Costello Slovak is a partner at Schiff Hardin LLP and will serve a two year term as Board Chair. New board members are Carmin Awadzi, founder and CEO of Magnolia Custom Homes, Susan M. Kurowski, partner at Deloitte, Gretchen M. Wolf, partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, and Ann Marie Wright, Chief Operating Officer for the North American Commercial Bank for BMO Financial Group. The board also voted to elect Blair Wellenseik as treasurer and Kelly Smith-Haley as secretary. Wendy White Eagle will serve as past chair.

Patricia Costello Slovak is a partner in the labor and employment law group at Schiff Hardin LLP in Chicago. Patricia has been a member of the CFW Board of Directors since 2012, and is a past member of the foundation’s Professional Advisory Council. She is a past chair of the ABA Labor and Employment Law Section and past chair of the Chicago Bar Association’s Alliance for Women. She is also a former commissioner on the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession.

Carmin Awadzi founded Magnolia Custom Homes; her passion for design and building has propelled her to become one of the premier homebuilders in the Chicago area. Carmin’s work has been featured in national and local publications such as The Chicago Tribune, The Daily Herald, and House Beautiful magazine. She is the CEO for Magnolia Custom Homes, Assurant Restorations, Inc. and currently serves on the board of YWCA Metropolitan Chicago.

Susan M. Kurowski is an audit partner with over twenty-three years of experience with a concentration in the consumer service and life science industries. Susie is passionate about mentoring and developing women. She has held numerous leadership roles within Deloitte, including those sponsoring the growth and development of women, diversity and inclusion. Additionally, Susie is a past member of the Women’s Executive Committee of the Illinois CPA Society, and she co-founded a women’s mentoring program.

Gretchen M. Wolf is a partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. As a partner in the Litigation Group of Skadden’s Chicago office, she represents a wide variety of clients in complex regulatory investigations, enforcement matters and civil litigation. Gretchen has represented pro bono clients in a variety of immigration matters, and currently serves on the board of directors for the National Immigrant Justice Center.

Ann Marie Wright is the Chief Operating Officer for the North American Commercial Bank for BMO Financial Group.  Ann Marie is a BoardMember of Children Home & Aid Society of Illinois, and has previously served as Vice President of the Hoffman Estates Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, which provides community service and support to residents in the Northwest suburbs.
