Chicago Foundation for Women Elects Chair, Three New Board Members

CHICAGO, IL (July 8, 2019) — Chicago Foundation for Women (CFW) is pleased to announce the election of three officers and three new members of the Chicago Foundation for Women Board of Directors, effective July 1. Kelly Smith Haley was elected Chair of the Board. Patricia Costello Slovak will serve as Past Chair. Michael Narciso was elected Treasurer and will also serve as chair of the foundation’s finance committee. Joining the board of directors are Deborah B. Cole, Anita Mital and Jessica Sohl.

“We are incredibly pleased to welcome our newest board members, who bring with them a broad range of experience in Chicago’s business and nonprofit sectors, and a deep commitment to increasing resources and opportunities for women and girls,” CFW President/CEO Felicia Davis said. “I want to thank Pat Slovak for her leadership and service to the women and girls of Chicago. She has played a key role in growing CFW’s grantmaking and putting the foundation on a path to new heights of investment in women and girls.”

Kelly Smith Haley is a partner at Fox Swibel, Levin & Carroll, LLP. She joined the Board of Directors of Chicago Foundation for Women in 2012. Smith Haley is a past member of the Alumni Board of Governors for Loyola University School of Law in Chicago. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Notre Dame in 1999 and received her law degree from Loyola University School of Law in Chicago, magna cum laude, where she was a member of the Loyola University Chicago Law Journal.

Deborah B. Cole is a partner at Hoogendoorn & Talbot LLP where she devotes her practice to estate planning, tax and family business planning. Chicago Magazine has recognized Cole as one of Chicago’s top estate planning attorneys and wealth advisors for over five years. She is a member of the Black Women Lawyers Association of Greater Chicago, the Chicago Estate Planning Council, the Board of Directors of the Constitutional Rights Foundation Chicago, the Center for Conflict Resolution, the Cook County Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the professional advisory board of the Lincoln Park Zoo, and the Chicago Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Anita Mital is a financial advisor with Northwestern Mutual with a focus on helping women become financially literate. She has been a member of the Western Suburbs Giving Circle of CFW since 2015 and has been one of the Giving Circle’s chairs since 2017. Mital is one of 6 trustees on the board for the Village of Burr Ridge.

Jessica Sohl is a partner and president of HC Technologies, overseeing the firm’s global operations. including business growth, strategy and development. Sohl is a member of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Global Markets Advisory Committee, the NY Federal Reserve Board’s Foreign Exchange Committee and a board member of Brave Initiatives, an organization focused on teaching young women coding and leadership skills. She holds a juris doctor from Loyola University School of Law, and a bachelor’s in politics, philosophy and economics from Gordon College.
