Cancellation of CFW Events Next Week
March 13 2020

Since reaching out to you earlier this week with information regarding our upcoming events, we have been monitoring updates regarding COVID-19 and are taking guidance from the CDC and both the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago health departments and leadership.

As many of you are aware, officials have recommended the cancellation of gatherings larger than 250 people – which would affect our 2020 Impact Awards, scheduled for March 18, as well as the first event in our 35th anniversary #TalkItOut series on March 19, Beyond the Binary: Building an Inclusive Movement for Gender Equity. In an effort to protect the safety and well-being of the community at large, we are canceling these events.

Over the next week, we will be working with event venues to explore the possibility of rescheduling both of these events later in the year. Rest assured that through this uncertain time, our focus remains on advancing the issues most important to women and girls across the Chicago region – including advocating for legislation NOW that allows women and men to share the burden and provide the flexibility to care for their families, aging parents, and other individuals in their care. Specifically, policies that provide paid family and medical leave and paid sick time for all illnesses, including COVID-19. As this work evolves, we will continue to keep you informed on how you can support this work.

Please take care of yourselves and others following the guidelines provided by our state and local officials, which are included below.

Thank you for being part of the CFW community.
