The Young Women's Leadership Council is the largest of the five councils with over 35 members dedicated to educating themselves as philanthropists, developing leadership skills and experience, and granting funds to nonprofit organizations working for the betterment of young women and girls. Since making its inaugural grants in 2008, the Council has awarded more than $25,000 from the
Young Women's Leadership Fund (
see a full list of grantees here) and has robust plans to increase this philanthropic impact in 2012 and beyond.
Thirty is the new "young" for the Young Women's Leadership Council, as in 2011 it expanded its traditional membership from women ages 18 to 30 to women of all ages. The Council encourages women over 30 to join as Advisory Members and offer their depth of experience and expertise to the Council's efforts. In short, all women who believe in supporting the next generation of women leaders are welcome to join the Council's efforts.
Mission StatementChicago Foundation for Women's Young Women's Leadership Council is a diverse community of young women ages 18 to 30, who are committed to supporting young women and girls through philanthropic efforts. To support our philanthropy, we utilize our strength as a diverse network of young women to fundraise for the purpose of grantmaking.
