Online registration is now closed. Tickets will be available at the door, $75 premium, $50 general. Premium tickets include premium seating and a poster signed by E. Patrick Johnson. All tickets include entry to the pre-show reception.
After the show, all are welcome to stay for a talk-back with E. Patrick Johnson and Jane M. Saks.
About "Sweet Tea" The Lesbian Leadership Council is proud to present a special performance of the play "Sweet Tea: Black Gay Men of the South." The play features dynamic performer, author and educator E. Patrick Johnson seamlessly portraying interviewees from his recent publication on black, gay Southern life. Johnson's acclaimed book is an oral history of Southern black gay men ranging in age from 19 to 93 that explores the relationship between blackness, sexuality and
southern culture. This theatrical adaptation is directed by Daniel Alexander Jones and co-produced by the Ellen Stone Belic Institute for the Study of Women and Gender in the Arts and Media at Columbia College Chicago, About Face Theatre (a Lavender Fund grantee) and Jane M. Saks--executive director of the Institute and co-chair of the Lesbian Leadership Council.
By purchasing tickets to the May 13 performance, you will support the Lavender Fund, which awards grants to programs working with women and individuals who identify as lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning.
